- It has enough variety to keep younger players interested
- The rail shooting mechanic helps to extend gameplay
- Having to re-centre gets annoying
- The graphics are okay
- but not great
Gus Track Adventures VR is all about a dinosaur called Gus with a gun. You sit on a cart that rolls down a track, and you have to shoot at various objects to score points, to clear your path, or to defend yourself.
A simple and easy game premise
One has to admire the basic honesty of Gus Track Adventures VR because it shows you exactly what it is and exactly what it does from the start. It is the sort of game where you can watch 2 seconds of the trailer and know what it is all about. You sit in a cart that runs along a rail track. You smash things that get in your way, you clear the track, you shoot at projectiles as they fly towards you, you shoot at enemies, and you shoot at bosses. There are times when you can roam around small rooms, and even times when you find yourself on a boat. The graphics are cartoony, and most levels are brightly coloured and playful.
An unfinished game that has plenty to do
Gus Track Adventures VR does have levels and areas that were clearly rushed or unfinished, but the developers added enough content to make Gus Track Adventures VR feel like a full game experience. It could be longer and would probably be more fun if it had more content, but the amount of content is acceptable. It is a game that younger children will find challenging. Older players may enjoy the quick-action shooting, but will soon lose interest due to the game’s lack of depth and the fact that most older players will complete it too quickly.
